WSCIJ calls for applications for story and leadership project support under its Report Women! News and Newsroom Engagement project

Report Women

The Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) offers fellows of the Report Women! Female Reporters Leadership Programme Fellowship an opportunity to apply for story and leadership project support through the Champion Building component of the Report Women! News and Newsroom Engagement project. Supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, this initiative aims to empower female journalists and promote gender equality in the media.

Fellows who intend to investigate issues affecting women and girls, enhancing the coverage of women and girl-child in the news or training female reporters on gender mainstreaming. Story or leadership projects of successful applicants may also focus on the capacity building of female journalists for leadership roles, engagement of more female experts as sources, advocacy for better representation of women in newsroom leadership and development or implementation of gender policies within news organisations.

The Report Women! News and Newsroom Engagement project aims to strategically involve the management and staff of news media organiationss in Nigeria to increase the representation of women in news coverage and newsroom leadership. Under this project, WSCIJ will also launch a source guide of women experts and advocate for gender equality within newsrooms.
