Thirteen Abuja-based journalists were trained in multimedia journalism and digital skills to boost their reporting skills within and outside the newsroom. The training targeted small and growing newsrooms that needed to include video content in their production process as a cheaper but vital mode of storytelling.

Titilope Fadare, a 2021 fellow of the Report Women! Female Reporters Leadership Programme, facilitated the training to improve the skills essential for journalists and newsrooms to speed up production.

The training under the Champion Building component of the Report Women! News and Newsroom Engagement project of the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) also equipped journalists in attendance with new innovative tools in tandem with current realities in the media landscape. The one-day training provided a platform for journalists to learn how to shoot and edit professional videos with their mobile phones and various mobile editing applications. Story ideas were discussed, and tips shared on how best to create and share social media videos.
