The Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) convened key stakeholders on Wednesday, 7 May 2025, at Amber Residence, Ikeja, Lagos, to advance preparations for the 2024 edition of the Journalism and Civic Space Status Report, under its Civic Space Guard project. Participants included Professor Abigail Ogwezzy-Ndisika, Director of the Institute of Continuing Education, University of Lagos (UNILAG); Lekan Otufodunrin, Executive Director, Media Career Development Network; Juliana Francis, Editor, Security News Alert; Olatunji Ololade, Associate Editor at The Nation Newspaper; Motunrayo Alaka, Executive Director/CEO of WSCIJ; Olaoluwa Adeleye, Programme Officer at WSCIJ and Odinakachi Oko, intern at WSCIJ.
The follow-up meeting, building on an earlier planning session, provided a platform to review progress on assigned tasks. These included the policy brief review, updates on stakeholder interviews, trend and critical incident analysis, and the development of a new section focused on media laws and legal critique. The session concluded with defined responsibilities and timelines to ensure the report’s timely completion and delivery.
