WSCIJ, CJID to host Twitter spaces on Nigeria media, political leadership and women equity

Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) and Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) will discuss “Nigeria media, political leadership, and women equity” on Twitter spaces to mark the 2023 International Women’s Day (#IWD23) on Wednesday, 8 March 2023 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.

In line with this year’s IWD theme: #EmbraceEquity, the event will have stakeholders discuss how the media have engaged and reported Nigerian women’s participation in the 2023 elections across the sub-national and national levels. It will also suggest roadmaps on how the media can intentionally encourage inclusive governance.

Remi Sonaiya, a university Professor and former presidential candidate during the 2015 Nigeria general election, Rommy Mom, of Lawyers Alert, Victoria Bamas of the International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR), as well as Sadiq Umar Ashafa of the Women in Politics Forum are panellists at the event. Nigeria Info Broadcaster, Kimberly Nwachukwu will moderate this 90 minutes Twitter Spaces.

The event is open to journalists, representatives of all tiers of government, women’s rights advocacy groups, civil society organisations, human rights activists, students of communication, political science and journalism and the public.
